Hanover College has awarded presidential and merit scholarships to Kelly Nicole Holbrook, a 2001 graduate of Warsaw Community High School. She is the daughter of Stephen and Debra Holbrook and will major in pre-dentistry. Holbrook has also been selected to be a member of the Hanover College Panther Dance Team for the school year 2001-2002.
Kimberly Shumaker, a student on Taylor University’s Upland campus, recently graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in communication studies. She is the daughter of Steven and Deloris Shumaker, North Manchester, and a graduate Manchester High School.

Kosciusko County’s tourism industry received a big boost recently when the county commissioners approved plans for a convention and visitor’s bureau and a 5 percent hotel room tax. Creation of the bureau opens the door to a more coordinated relationship with the state office of tourism and is expected to generate more tourism dollars in the county.

Robert Chaney, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Chaney, will have a grant from the Warsaw BPW club to help him with expenses at Indiana University Medical School his junior year. A graduate of Warsaw High School and Manchester College, Chaney served three years in the Army medical corps.

Thursday morning, 400 boys from the Chicago Boys’ Club, Winona Lake, packed their bags and returned to their homes in Chicago. Next Monday the last group of 400 boys will come to stay for 10 days. A group of boys who stay all summer at the camp will return to Chicago when the last group leaves.
