   The Syracuse Community Center was dedicated Saturday with a ribbon-cutting, a long dedication ceremony and tours of the 16,350-square-foot building. The facility houses the Syracuse-Wawasee Museum, two meeting rooms, a gymnasium, computer lab, arts and crafts room, fitness and wellness areas, a senior wing, kitchen, administrative offices and maintenance building.

   The Kosciusko County 4-H king and queen were crowned Monday evening at the Warsaw Community High School auditorium. From a court of 16, Lisa Kaiser and Steve Lynch were named the royal couple. Kaiser, 17, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Kaiser of Milford. Lynch, 18, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Lynch of Claypool.

   Homer Shoop, of North Webster, is captain of a four-player team competing in the National Bridge Championship tournament at Minneapolis, Minn.; and tonight his team will play the top-seeded squad captained by Charles Goren, recognized as one of the top bridge experts in the nation. Shoop’s team is among 16 undefeated squads remaining in the running of the double-elimination tournament.

   The county commissioners approved the inserting of the sum of $1,200 in the proposed 1938 budget, which will allow the full-time employment of a Kosciusko County nurse. At present, Miss Marie Sohaski, county nurse, is employed only during the school term of September to June. The request for a full-time nurse was made by local Red Cross officials.
