    Neal Shepherd might be the youngest winner at the annual Big Brothers-Big Sisters Car Show at Petro's GM Showplace. Shepherd, the 8-year-old son of former spring car racer Terry Shepherd, said the 1967 Camaro wins almost all of the shows it is entered into. And for good reason. The auto has 32,000 original miles, is in mint condition and has never been exposed to rain.

    Warsaw Post 2717, sponsored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post, Warsaw, won the overall boys water event at the Makahiki held recently at Winona Lake. Winners are Dennis Hall, Steve Doyle, Steve Moody, Terry Leek, David Coleman, Kevin Gunter, Elliott Enders, Mary Kralis, Ruth Gunter and Tom Calhoun.

    Mentone residents Mr. and Mrs. Roy Smith will tell you that fishing is great in Michigan. Fishing at Saddlebag Lake, Mrs. Smith brought in an 11-inch bluegill that weighed in at a full pound and a quarter, making it one of the biggest bluegills caught there this year.

August 31 1932

    Noah Puntenney, of 219 S. Scott St., made a most unusual catch this forenoon while fishing on Winona Lake. Puntenney pulled hard on the line after the cork had disappeared under water and with the expectation of landing a "big one" he brought to view a rattlesnake, measuring two feet in length. It had seven rattles. After killing the reptile he returned to Warsaw with a dandy fish story, but only one small fish.
