10 Years Ago Tucked off Winona Avenue, west of the underpass, the dilapidated remains of the once thriving Gatke factory can be seen above the treetops. It's an eyesore one has to search out to see, a fine example of neglected property. The former train station has a history of industrial use, too, and has set abandoned for about 10 years. With an Indiana Development Finance Authority Brownfield Remediation Loan, an Indiana Department of Commerce CDBG Brownfield Grant and seed money from the city, the property can be cleaned up for use again.

The correspondence will state, "This letter is to inform you that the Warsaw Community Schools Board of School Trustees is committed to sell and transfer the old Freshman High School property (CIP target area) at fair market value pursuant to the (attached) Attorney General's opinion."
50 Years Ago For the first time in history, more than 9,000 boys and girls will be enrolled this fall in schools in Kosciusko County if estimates by administrators prove correct. Estimated enrollments in Warsaw, Syracuse and Kosciusko County schools total 9,267. That is 366 more than the 8,901 who enrolled last year. Syracuse is listed separately from the Kosciusko County schools because, like Warsaw Community Schools, it has its own school board: the Turkey Creek Township Metropolitan School District.
