Warsaw Community High School teacher Jeanne McCormack is one of the 10 states finalists for 1999 teacher of the year. She will travel to Indianapolis in September to be interviewed by a committee from the Indiana Department of Education.

Several Winona Lake residents caught a glimpse of the Russian satellite - Sputnik III - Tuesday night when it passed over this vicinity. Telephone calls to our newsroom indicated it was visible for about three minutes. Bill Mollenhour, of our staff, and some friends, motored out to the center of Winona Lake to observe the passage.
