    SOUTH WHITLEY - Gatorade was not dumped, nor was the coach hoisted up on the shoulder pads of burley linemen and carried around the field.

No, the celebration for the 100th win in 17 years by Whitko football coach Bryan Sprunger was simple, just an announcement over the public address system after Friday's 20-17 win over Whitley County rival Columbia City.

    Winning the most valuable player awards in the Warsaw men's slow pitch softball league were Aaron Rovenstine of Bill Nay Furniture, Class A; Craig Lyons of Bargain Center, Class B; and Larry Sumpter, Warsaw Merchants, Class C.

    An institution that had been in the forefront of the social and commercial life of Warsaw for nearly 100 years will be closed Sept. 1.

The Hotel Hays, corner of Center and Indiana streets, will go the way of many an old hotel when Hoosier International Corp., present owner, ceases to operate it.

August 29 1933

    Under the new state law, recently passed, the salaries of city officials have been changed, effective after Dec. 31, 1933. An ordinance was passed by the city council fixing salaries as follows: mayor, $900 a year; clerk-treasurer, $600; city attorney, $450; councilmen, $100; council member of the board of safety, $50 additional.
