     Saint Mary’s College, Notre  Dame, has awarded a Dean Scholarship to Allison Lindsey Nichols. A graduate of Warsaw Community High School, Nichols is the daughter of Glenn and Patricia Nichols, Warsaw.
    Kristen Leigh Sanders, of Mentone, accepted membership in The National Society of Collegiate scholars and will be honored during a campus ceremony this fall at Purdue University

    Naming of its Citizen of the Year, a Cutie Queen and King contest, pet parade, and various contests of watermelon eating and nail driving highlighted this year’s Burket Day Festival. Named as Citizen of the Year was Bill Griffis, while the Cutie Queen and King were Jamie Baker and Eddie Sexton.

   Miss Ann Wildermuth, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Wildermuth, Akron, sailed from New York City on the Holland-America liner “Maasdam” en route to Marburg, Germany, where she will study German under the  Brethren Colleges Abroad program. Ann, a graduate of Akron High School, is a junior at Manchester College in North Manchester.

    Carl Latta, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bonnie Latta, will leave the first part of next month to take an engineering course at the University of Nebraska. The young man, former Warsaw High School football, basketball and track star, was awarded a scholarship through the efforts of A.D. Phillips, district agent for the Woodmen’s Accident Insurance Company in Warsaw. The young man will be given a position in the offices of the insurance company at Lincoln.
