    The birth of Kylie Bibler makes five generations for a local family. They are Berniece Asher, great-great-grandmother, Joyce Williams, great-grandmother, Teri Winterrowd, grandmother, and Kerri Bibler, mother.

August 28 1983

    Greg Sasso won the men's open competition and Elaine Glova was the women's open winner in the second annual Warsaw Community Tennis Tournament, sponsored by Penguin Point.

Sasso defeated his brother, Rick Sasso, in the men's open finals while in the women's open play, Glova downed Peggy Strand.

50 Years Ago

August 28 1958

    Syracuse Justice of the Peace Robert McCullough has ruled that a "teddy bear" can not serve as an observer in a motorboat.

This after Gary Fisher, 15, of Syracuse, was arrested for towing a skier with a teddy bear as the observer. Fisher tied a scarf around the padded bear's head and set it alongside of him in the boat.

75 Years Ago

August 28 1933

    There were 300 in attendance at the annual twin reunion held at the city park. The following prizes were awarded among the 50 pair of twins in attendance: Oldest twins, $1, to Rosella Lewallen of Mentone and Estella Dille of Akron, who are 78 years of age; youngest twins, $1 in cash, to John and Joan Bowser of Warsaw, 9 months; men most resemblance, Elmore and Eldridge Carpenter of Akron, $1; boys with most resemblance, Wilber and Willard Alderfer of Bourbon, $1; and girls with most resemblance, Velma and Wilma Stahly of Warsaw, $1.
