    POTPOURRI - Here's an item you might enjoy if you're familiar with some recent events. Remember attorney Jim Walter's answer for residents who wanted to know how to get better police coverage at a traffic intersection in Winona Lake? (He suggested they bring doughnuts.)

Well, when Warsaw police discovered a 6-foot boa constrictor last week, guess what they named it? Walmer.

    Claypool's Judi Warren, the first "Miss Basketball" in Indiana after leading Warsaw to the state championship in 1976, has accepted a teaching and girls basketball coaching job at Maconaquah High School near Bunker Hill. Following her 1980 graduation from Franklin College, she coached at South Dearborn High School in southeastern Indiana, and most recently, has worked at Kosciusko Community Hospital.

August 28 1932

    Marking up two three-baggers, one of them with three men on bases, Pitcher Creagbaum of the Mentone baseball team won his own game from the Vernon ball club of Elkhart on the Mentone diamond. The score was 5 to 2 in favor of Mentone.

Earlier in the season the two teams played two games. In the first Mentone was victorious by a score of 1 to 0, and in the second Elkhart won 8 to 0.
