10 Years Ago Steve and Kyle Petty, Mark and Micah Price and Curt and William Brown were part of a unique team sent out recently to Guatemala by Hands of Hope International. The men and their sons were able to visit an orphanage, help at a feeding center, pass food out at a squatter’s village next to a dump and continue construction on the clinic, as well as enjoy visiting sites. Other teams have consisted of adults and teens, but this is the first to specifically provide a father-son experience. 25 Years Ago The Times-Union Sports editor Robin Hartman will finish his last day at our sports desk Monday. A virtual institution in the Warsaw area, Hartman has been associated with The Times-Union and radio station WRSW for almost a dozen years, including sports chieftain for the past three years. Hartman has accepted an offer to serve as sports information director for Albion College, Albion, Mich., located east of Battle Creek, Mich. 50 Years Ago Warsaw Kiwanians met their new exchange student, Jochen Stambrau, for the first time recently at the club luncheon in the Civic Center. Tall, dark, handsome and polite, he’s 17 years old and comes from Frankfurt, Germany. He wants to be an engineer some day. Jochen will live with the Hurley Gerard family on South Indiana Street and attend Warsaw High School. 75 Years Ago Announcement has been made by William Stutzman, trustee of Etna Township, that a farm shop department has been added to the Etna Green School, the department to be led by Fred Ahlemeyer. Improvements in the school building are two new toilets, and the boiler room has a new fire-proof ceiling, and grade rooms have been redecorated.
