10 Years Ago The red, white and blue of 2002 at Claypool was two days of fun. The weather cleared for the car show and a tenderloin dinner by the Lions Club. The Claypool Royal Family of 2002 consisted of Miss Claypool – Ashley Cotton, daughter of Charles and Rose Cotton; cutie queen – Shelby Berkey, 3, daughter of Paul and Frythany Berkey, and cutie king – Kaleb Lampkin, 4, son of Scott and Mary Lampkin. 25 Years Ago The Lakeland Child Evangelism Fellowship Committee is planning a new documentary film to focus on worldwide needs of children. They will be filming in East and West Europe, Middle East, the Orient, Australia, India, Africa, Central and South America, Canada and the United States. The committee is comprised of residents of four counties, Kosciusko, Noble, Whitley and Wabash, Heinz Fussle will produce the film and the Rev. Al Buhler will be production coordinator. 50 Years Ago Dr. Frank C. Tucker, Claypool veterinarian, will inspect poultry at the Indiana State Fair Aug. 24-Sept. 5. Purpose of his assignment is to make sure all poultry entries are free of disease. This is the 18th year Dr. Tucker has performed such service. 75 Years Ago Miss Marijane Griffith and Ernest “Pat” Kelly of Warsaw were awarded first prize in the “Warsaw Hop” dance contest at Pottawatomie Gardens at Tippecanoe Lake recently. Josephine Brown of Tippecanoe Lake and Lester Brower of Fort Wayne were winners in the “Swing Dance.” A waltzing contest was also featured.
