    To help the town of Etna Green make Remembrance Park a reality, Rebecca Baker and Marlene Hoffer applied for grants for the project one application at a time as part of their Kosciusko Leadership Academy project.

Remembrance Park will be at an area downtown currently called the town round or town square. Run-down and unsightly, the town square became a place to store the town's recycling bins and to park cars. The park, once completed, will feature a bandstand, picnic tables, benches and a fountain.

    Two local youth were named 4-H counselors for the 1985 4-H Plant Science Jamboree at the 1984 Jamboree held recently on the Purdue University campus.

Named to serve at next year's three-day event were: Shirley Bolinger, Warsaw, and Eric Toetz, Claypool.

August 22 1959

    The Youth for Christ Convention opens its 15th annual convention in the Billy Sunday Tabernacle in Winona Lake. Nearly 10,000 delegates, most of them teen-agers, are expected to participate in the program, which will consist of everything from Bible study to talent contests and sports seminars.

    Miss Grace Carter of Marion, former telephone observer and trainer of operators for the Bell Telephone company, has accepted a position as chief operator in the Warsaw telephone office.
