August 22 1997

    A Warsaw woman found an unexpected visitor under her car this morning. An 8-foot Burmese python was waiting under her car at 1413 E. Clark St., Warsaw. The woman called Warsaw police, and animal control officer Steve Brown captured the snake and took it to the Kosciusko County Animal Shelter to wait until someone claims it. No snakes have been reported missing to the Warsaw Police Dept.

    BREMEN - Bob Buehle of Warsaw was the 15-16-year-old division winner in the Michiana Junior Open golf tournament at Sprig-O-Mint Golf Course.

Buehle fired a 77 and 81 to top a field that included some 20 golfers.

August 22 1957

    Janet Riley, 16, was crowned "1957 Kosciusko County Fair Queen" by Margie Long, of Warsaw, who won the title in 1956. Carol Anderson, of Warsaw, was second in the "penny a vote" contest sponsored by Alpha Beta chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Margaret Bowser, of North Webster, placed third.


75 Years Ago

August 22 1932

    Dr. Robert Thompson, of Winona Lake, has added to his stables at his polo farm a mile east of Winona Lake, a trained cavalry horse which he has purchased from the Culver Military Academy Black Horse Troop. The cavalry horse was transported to the Thompson stables, which now includes five trained riding horses, hunters, jumpers and polo ponies.
