10 Years Ago The city of Warsaw recently received a $2,500 grant from Kosciusko County Community Foundation Inc. toward the construction of the Beyer Farm Trail portion of the Lake City Greenway, a new bicycle/pedestrian boardwalk. The trail will connect the Kosciusko Community Hospital campus with Pike Lake Park and beach area. The one-mile asphalt trail and wooden boardwalk will traverse a 50-acre wetland adjacent to Pike Lake. The recreational facility also will feature educational signage on wetland functions, native vegetation and wildlife surrounding the area. 25 Years Ago Winona Lake Grace Brethren Church capped a perfect Warsaw Women’s Church League season by winning the league’s annual post-season tournament. Team members are Connie McClure, Lisa Wilcoxson, Brenda Kent, Ronda Graham, Faith Heisler, Sue Rike, Leslie Weikel, Linda Horton, Michelle Marner, Mimi Geringer, coach Brenda Wilcoxson, Sarah Wilson and Roberta Frush. The team completed the regular season with a 13-0 record. 50 Years Ago George E. Heaton, Winona Lake, is attending a two-week banking school session at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. Heaton is associated with the Lake City Bank in Warsaw. Mr. and Mrs. Frank N. Wilson, of Pierceton, are expected home this week from Seattle, Wash., where they’ve spent the past month. The Wilsons attended a convention, visited relatives and spent some time at the World’s Fair. He is president of the Indiana Nursing Homes Association. 75 Years Ago The Warsaw tennis team will play an inter-city match with Goshen on the latter’s courts Sunday morning. This is the first inter-city match the local team has ever scheduled with Goshen. Warsaw’s team probably will be composed of George Bowser, Ralph and Kenneth Boice, Earl Fausnaught, Clarence Hartman and Reub Williams.
