    POTPOURRI - Carl Sowers of Warsaw will help usher in a new era in Notre Dame football this fall. Sowers was selected to serve as an usher during home games this year. The season marks the first following expansion of the stadium from about 60,000 to 80,000 seats. Sowers, though, will be expected to stand.

    Ronald J. Records, son of Edith E. Persons, of Provo, Utah, formerly of Huffman Lake, is serving in the drum and bugle corps at the San Diego naval training center.


75 Years Ago

August 20 1932

    Ruth Newlin of Winona Lake and six of her piano pupils gave a recital program in the Newlin home. The recital was much enjoyed by 40 or more friends and neighbors. The following pupils were heard in piano solos and duets: Jennie Collins, Marjana Collins, Winifred Hope, Dorothy Shafer, Mary Edith Harris and Lois Lavina Lawrence.

Prizes were awarded to Jennie Collins for the greatest number of hours of practice during the summer, and to Mary Edith Harris for excellent memory work in harmony questions.
