Winners in the evening bridge were Elaine Loser, Nancy Anderson, Dory Wright, Peg Zimmerman, Shirley Petro, Wanda McSherry, Walt Martin, Tony Frazzetta, Keith Horn, Jim Loser and John Wagley. 25 Years Ago Sam Joyner accepted his Indiana Football Hall of Fame plaque from former Warsaw High School coach and St. Joseph Valley Chapter board member Frank Sanders during Saturday’s induction banquet at South Bend’s Century Center. Joyner, a 1953 Warsaw graduate, was one of nine persons inducted into the grid shrine, based in Richmond. 50 Years Ago Superintendent of the Warsaw Community Schools, Carl Burt, announced the appointment of Brad Moore as principal of the Atwood grade school. Moore, who has been assistant principal of the Lincoln Elementary School in Warsaw, also will teach the sixth grade at Atwood. 75 Years Ago Fire of unknown origin completely destroyed the farm home of Mrs. Frances Hapner of 2-1/2 miles north of Syracuse on Ind. 13. Mrs. Hapner, and one of her four sons, resided with her were in Goshen at the time of the fire. Nothing was saved but a washing machine, which was taken out of the pump house, which was also destroyed.
