    Five Warsaw musicians are touring with the Bluecoats Drum and Bugle Corp for the 1997 competitive season. The Bluecoats are one of the top 10 drum corps in the world; membership is earned through monthly auditions and rehearsals at the corps' headquarters in Canton, Ohio. They are Ben Handel, rhythm section; Lane Armey, tenor drums; Mandy Army, marimba; and Jackie Whitesell and Celeste Cooning, both color guard.

August 17 1982

    Vanessa Gayheart, daughter of Reginald and Cathy Gayheart of Warsaw, was winner of the Kosciusko County Right-To-Life's second annual baby photo contest at the county fair.

She won more than 87 other contestants in the penny-a-vote competition, with 7,648 pennies. Second place, with 6,525 pennies was Jeremy Folk, son of Mr. and Mrs. Morris Folk, Warsaw. Finishing third, with 5,797 pennies, was Heather Renee Kissell, daughter of Mark and Robbie Kissell, Warsaw.

    Mr. and Mrs. Reese Price, of Bourbon, have announced their sale of the Bourbon News Mirror, a weekly publication, to Mr. and Mrs. Neal Glass, also of Bourbon.

Glass has worked for the weekly newspaper for a number of years.

August 17 1932

    Clint Dederick Jr., 19, of Warsaw, a member of the crew of the USMV Natomia, which is anchored in the Tarrytown Harbor, swam the Hudson River from Kingsland Point to North Nyack, says the Tarrytown News. The distance is four miles, which Dederick negotiated in one hour and four minutes, considered fast time in view of the choppy condition of the river. Dederick's feat was the seventh successful attempt this summer.
