He aced the No. 2 hole by using a 5-iron. Vonn Hoffman and Brooks Targgart were on Runion's team. Alvin Lowe grew a big banana melon in his home garden on CR 200S. With a taste similar to muskmelon, the banana is considered a novelty variety. 25 Years Ago The landing of a helicopter in the parking lot at Kosciusko Community Hospital will soon be a thing of the past. KCH is presently working on installing a helicopter landing area. Josh Wallen, 10, caught a five and one-half pound largemouth bass at Chapman Lake July 21. Wallen's fish has appeared on Channel 16's “Big Ol' Fish” show. David Bradway, son of Ward and Barbara Bradway, Warsaw, has decided to attend Franklin College on a basketball scholarship and major in international business. He was the third leading scorer on the Warsaw team this past season, averaging 9.0 in 18 games, hitting 15 of 29 from the three-point range. 50 Years Ago A freak accident July 30 caused traffic on Market St. at the post office to be tied up for about 30 minutes. The large U.S. Mail trailer truck parked behind the post office rolled downhill and overturned a car owned by George Bullock Sr., proprietor of the Calico Kitchen. Damage to the truck's bumper is $30 and estimated damage to Bullock's car is $900. James Majors, driver from Elkhart, reported to Patrolman Eldon Werstler that he had the brake on when the truck rolled. Gaylord Donnelley, chairman R.R. Donnelley, and Ray H. Jordan, president J.C. Penney, leaf through the pages of a new Penney catalog at dedication ceremonies for the Donnelley East Plant July 29. Among those speaking were Rev.
