    The Altrusa Club of Warsaw recently initiated two new members, Marsha Eikenberry and Amy Furnivall.

Approximately 30 women from a wide range of professions are members of the local club.

August 15 1983

    Mandy Riffe has just returned from Purdue Girls Sports Camp for swimming in Lafayette. While there she received the spirit trophy for her continued enthusiasm while swimming. She will be in the 10th grade at Warsaw Community High School and is the daughter of Joe and Sue Kruger, Warsaw, and Steve Riffe, Barbee Lake.


50 Years Ago

August 15 1958

    Susan Van Osdol was named "Ideal Nurse" among the graduating students at St. Joseph's Hospital in Fort Wayne. Susan, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. C. Dean Van Osdol, of just northeast of Warsaw, will enter nursing in the surgical division of St. Joseph's. The G. Irving Latz Award is made to the graduating student at St. Joseph's who represents to her class the best ideal of the nurse.


75 Years Ago

August 15 1933

    WASHINGTON, D.C. - One of the outstanding swimmers with the 4th Regiment of Marines at Shanghai, China, is Private Carl F. Brooks, son of Fred A. Brooks, of Warsaw and Winona Lake.

Brooks, who is a member of the regimental swimming team, recently took part in an inter-battalion swimming meet held at the Navy YMCA in Shanghai, and entered the underwater swimming event. He swam 201 feet under water to break the record of the pool, which previously had stood at 136 feet.
