Almost 200 high school students from seven states participated in the 11th annual drum major clinics recently. The clinic was co-directed by Doug Keiser, director of marching bands at Indiana State University, and Gene Bechen, assistant professor of music.

Attending from Warsaw Community High School were Amanda Kissane, David Scott and Wendy Trueblood. Noland Morse and Tyler Secor attended from Whitko High School.

Lisa Kaiser, daughter of Richard and Clara Kaiser of Pierceton, was named Kosciusko County 4-H Supreme Showman.

Lori Messmore won the grand champion dairy beef award, and also won the reserve grand champion award, too, making it a clean sweep for the Pierceton youngster. She is the daughter of Bruce Messmore, Pierceton, and Nedra Messmore, Pierceton.

Miss Donna Nusbaum, of Chapman Lake and Glen Ellyn, Ill., is visiting her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Peacock, in Atlanta, Ga., for 10 days. Miss Sue Nusbaum is working at the Wagon Wheel restaurant and Miss Randa Nusbaum with the musical theater troupe. The girls, their young sister, Peggy, and mother, Mrs. Roger Nusbaum, are spending the summer with Mrs. Ralph Nusbaum at Chapman Lake.

Joe Moss, local steeple jack, through his agility saved his own life here last night about 9 o’clock when a speeding auto without lights bore down upon him as he was crossing the street at the Phillipson store corner. Moss was walking between two companions. As the car ran into the group, Moss leaped on top of the auto hood and was carried a half block. His jump saved him being knocked under the auto wheels.
