Robert Shisler’s family received the Chapman Lakes Flotilla President’s Award during Saturday’s event. Other winners: Ed Enders family, Marylou McFarren, Dave Whaley family, Pat Higgins family, Thomas Marien, Dave White, Bob Vitoux. There were 740 breakfasts served by the Chapman Lakes Property Owners.
Storms that developed late Wednesday afternoon, July 6, produced a tornado about two miles north of Atwood. A funnel cloud touched down briefly in a field around 5:45. Damage to trees around Atwood and Clunette were caused mainly by straight-line winds. Roof damage was done to Bambi’s Roofing in Atwood.

Janice Keeton, recent graduate of Warsaw Community High School, dreams of making a career out of singing country music. She’s been involved in school choirs since fifth grade and has done some acting at Wagon Wheel. Her father, James, is arranging singing opportunities for her this summer. Tonight, she competes in Etna Green; Akron, Wednesday.
Zimmer awards: Jim Keeton, manager sales support, 35 years of service, presented by Brad Bishop, manager of communications; Nelson Sutton, director of special projects, 25 years, presented by Tom Hufziger, vice president of manufacturing.
    Del and Dorothy Nelson, Warsaw, won a hot air balloon ride from RE/MAX Rainbow Realtors. They will fly across the county with Jerry Hull of Adventures in Ballooning.

 Warsaw Chemical Company in East Warsaw was founded in 1942 by the late Paul Grimm in one room, now grown to a 20,000 foot complex . Robert Steele, Warsaw, is now president, and Ray Steenhausen, Warsaw, vice president and treasurer of the company. Bertis R. Gebert, near Pierceton, is the “old-timer” among the employees, having been with the firm for 18 years.
Warsaw School Board President Ethan Kaufman presented watches to two retiring school bus drivers: Everett Perry, 26 years; Clifford Frush, 33 years.
Robert Heagy, Warsaw, has been a member of the Dalton (Foundries) Team for 32 years. He has the important job of coremaker.

Flowers and plants for boxes in the fireman’s park, corner Indiana and Center streets, will be donated by all four of the florists in and near Warsaw: Anderson Greenhouse, Dederick’s, Stinger’s, and Maple Avenue Greenhouse.
