Warsaw Mayor Ernie Wiggins, Cathy Teghtmeyer of Leesburg, and Barb Gmitter of Pennsylvania, daughter of George Lenke and formerly of Warsaw, reminisced about the “good old days” at the Evening Viewing of the Gardens at Warsaw's Biblical Gardens. They are members of Warsaw High School Class of 1967.
Jolly Homemakers Extension Club was formed in 1922 and held its last meeting June 28. Some current members have been active for more than 50 years: Ina Konkle, Betty Merkle and LaMora Longyear, Claypool; Kay Eller, North Manchester; Evelyn Moore, Silver Lake; Evelyn Clay and Betty Tully, Warsaw.

 Warsaw resident Marie Freiburger celebrates her 100th birthday July 3. “My mother said that if I wasn't in such a hurry to see the world, I would have been a firecracker baby.” She has been living alone for three years in the home on Pike Lake she and her husband, Elmer, bought in 1928. Elmer had been in a nursing home for two years before passing away last year. “I am very thankful for the attention the Kermit Collins family gives me.” (her neighbors)
Matt and Kim Horn, children of John and Jackie Horn, Warsaw, are celebrating their birthdays on Independence Day. Matt will be 10; his sister, three. A birthday party and picnic is planned by the family.

Third grade pupils around the area are treated to a day at the Shrine Circus each year, and they are asked to write an essay, “My Day at the Circus.”  Lanny Mauzy, chairman, presented the first prize to Tammy Loftin of Madison School, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elbert Loftin, Warsaw. John Hall presented the second prize to Sterling Watkins of Leesburg School, son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Watkins. Joni Rupprecht, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Rupprecht, was the third prize winner. Her teacher at North Webster School is Mrs. C.L. McClure Jr.

Thirteen years ago today, May 23: Cyclone rips off entire roof of old Phoenix building, occupied by C.O. Gerard and Hull's feed store, South Buffalo Street, deposited in street, crushing autos. Trees uprooted.
Handsome new electric Hammond organ installed at Warsaw High School auditorium for forthcoming commencement exercises.
