10 Years Ago Presley Walters was the image of precocious toddlerhood - able to go on stage by herself, waving to the crowd on cue, dressed in a little red, white and blue summer suit. The troubles came when last year’s toddler placed Presley’s crown on her head and the tiara’s side combs pulled her delicate 2-year-olds hairs. The daughter of Jeremy and Courtney Walters, Leesburg, burst into outraged tears and kept her little hands to her head to prevent the miserable tiara from being reset. She was named Kosciusko County Toddler during the contest. 25 Years Ago This Mexican recipe for Tortilla Espanola (Spanish Omelet) was submitted by Lynn Estep, Bourbon for the Spotlight Recipe Contest. Ingredients: 2 large potatoes (finely chopped); 1 medium onion; 3/4 tsp. salt; 1/4 tsp. red pepper; Cooking oil; 6 beaten eggs; 1/3 cup milk; 1/2 tsp. salt; 1/8 tsp. pepper. Combine potatoes, onion, 3/4 salt and red pepper. Heat oil in 10 inch skillet. Add potato mixture to skillet. Cover and cook over medium heat 12-15 minutes. Combine rest of ingredients and pour over potatoes in skillet. Reduce heat, cover and cook over low heat 8-10 minutes. Uncover and place under broiler 2-3 minutes. Serve 4-6. 50 Years Ago The American Legion Baseball team will travel to Galva, Ill., this weekend for a double-header, and accompanying the squad will be Mayor Mike Hodges, who again this year has risked 36 broiler chickens from this area against a hog from Galva. Galva is approximately 260 miles from Warsaw, and a program is planned for the visiting Warsaw American Legion athletes. 75 Years Ago Mrs. Leroy Bibler and son, Leonard, Miss Bernice Bibler, Miss Jennie Alexander and Miss Florence Kagey have gone on a three weeks’ trip to Colorado Springs and Denver, Colo., where they will visit with the Rev. and Mrs. Walter G. Schaeffer, formerly of Warsaw. Mr. and Mrs. Louis Wolfe and sons, Donald and Charles, and nephew, Jack Knauss, Warsaw, recently left for East McKeesport, Pa., to visit with relatives. En route home they will stop at Niagara Falls.
