    VINCENNES - Shawn Schlag, Warsaw, was recently honored by the Vincennes University theater department by receiving the achievement award and a Blue Cord Award, which recognizes outstanding scholarship, leadership and service.

Schlag, who just finished his freshman year, is majoring in music theater.

July 5 1982

    Five Kosciusko Community YMCA swimmers set team records last weekend in the Club Olympia Developmental swim meet at the Honeywell pool in Wabash. Some 570 swimmers from 28 teams participated in the meet.

Setting records were Melissa Herndon in the 13-14 400-meter freestyle; Steve Herndon, 11-12 400-meter freestyle; Cindy Keough, 9-10 girls 100-meter backstroke; Tony Kraus, 15-and-older 1,500-meter freestyle, and Danita Mayhew, 13-14 200 breaststroke.

    Times-Union carrier boys David Knisley, Don Earl, Larry McDonald, Paul Howard, Stanley Phillips and Donald Baugher, all of Warsaw, were watching action on the diamond as they took in the major league baseball double-header Sunday between the Chicago Cubs and Brooklyn Dodgers at Chicago.

July 5 1932

    The top price here since last November for hogs was quoted this morning by Ben Prather at the East End Stockyards. Hogs weighing 150 to 225 were bringing $5 per hundred. Those weighing 225 to 250 were quoted at $4.90 and from 250 to 275 at $4.80.
