Edna (Grandma) Sharkey will serve as grand marshal for the Etna Green 4th of July “Gay Nineties” parade. The house where she and her husband, Harold, raised their children was once Maple Grove School. Grandma makes quilts and patchwork pillows for all the neighborhood babies. They started kindergarten at McKinley School together. Seneca Primley Jr., 93, Winona Lake, will ride in the Memorial Day parade wearing his Spanish-American War cap. He rode the train from Plymouth to Tampa, Fla. after enlisting with the 157th Indiana division, “Studebaker (Col. George M.) Tigers.” His father served with the Grand Army of the Republic during the Civil War. George Ward, Warsaw, will take his place of honor in the Spanish-American War veterans car. 75 Years Ago Farmers in the Silver Lake vicinity, armed with timber cutting implements, aided neighbor Devoy Kesler in getting out timber for the erection of a new barn to replace the one destroyed by fire.
