Dr. Russell Heyde recently received the Pete Thorn Achievement Award from the Warsaw Rotary Club. Heyde was given the award for meritorious service to the community.
Winners of the annual Kosciusko County Fair Queen Umbrella Contest during Pioneer Days were Miss Claypool Tina Belcher, first place; Miss Pierceton Sheila Ousley, second place; and Miss Warsaw I Cheryl Bunch, third place. The contest is sponsored by Beta Sigma Phi sorority and winners received gift certificates.

Announcement was made by James Durham, former game warden, that he has word from his patient attorneys at Washington, D.C., that the United States government patent office is acting favorably upon his application for a patent on a fish-bobber invented by Durham. He is credited with inventing the first quick detachable fish-bobber.
