    Rachel Jaynes recently captured first place in the girls handicap division of the Indiana State Coca-Cola bowling finals. She won an $800 scholarship, a plaque and an all-expense paid trip to the finals in Memphis, Tenn. At the finals, she will be competing for $30,000 in scholarships with more than 275 other people.

July 3 1982

    Twelve-year-old Todd Doberstein caught a 11-3/4-pound, 35-1/2-inch northern pike in the Tippecanoe River west of Warsaw this week. The youth hooked the fish with a Daredevil and, fortunately, was equipped to land him with 20-pound test line. He is the son of Daryl and Coni Doberstein, Warsaw.

    Phyllis Binkley was elected president of the Bourbon American Legion Auxiliary, at a recent session.

Mrs. Keith Pershing is vice-president; Mrs. Lawrence Slough, second vice president; Mrs. Lou Kuchel, secretary; Mrs. Loy Houser, treasurer; Mrs. Vernon Jackson, chaplain; Mrs. Claude Davis, historian; and Ruth Davis, sergeant at arms.

    Farmers visiting Warsaw today estimated that nearly half of the wheat on the farms of Kosciusko County already has been cut, the work having been done in a general way much earlier than in former years.

One farmer estimated that the yield in this and adjoining counties would be anywhere from 25 to 40 bushels to the acre, with the average above 30 bushels to the acre.
