Bell Memorial Library, Mentone, held its Young Authors Contest, known as the Strawberry Awards. Grand Champion- “Magical Mom” by Gabrielle Bradley; 3-5 year olds: Mallory Walerko, first place; Caleigh Byrer, second; 7-8 year olds: Rebecca Murphy, first; Ashley Childers, second; 9-12 year olds: Elizabeth Shepherd, first; Brittany Childers, second; Honorable Mention: Alex and Zach McNulty, Blake McBrier, Emily Childers, Darian and Ashley Doan, Cassy Mayer, Dakota and Trey Woodcox, Mikaela and Whitney Reed.

A group of 70 area boys enjoyed outdoor activities and learned about conservation last week at the Mollenhour Memorial Conservation Camp near Silver Lake. The camp at McClure Lake has been open for 51 years, according to director Sam Manwaring. Dan Sweeny serves as custodian year-round.
Angela Leiter was named “associate of the store” for June at the Warsaw Big Wheel. She works in the toy department. Manager Archie Armino says she has an outstanding job performance and maintains a positive attitude.

James Hunt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hunt, Route 1, North Webster, started a stamp collection of Spain and colonies as requirement for his Merit Badge in 1961. Since then, his collection has grown to more than 2,000 issues and is valued at $600.
Bill Frush was appointed chairman of the National Farming Organization booth at the Kosciusko County Fair August 2-7. He is in charge of securing a deep freezer to hold the beef, pork and fowls that the N.F.O. will give away on the final night.
The Rev. Lowell Thomas Oler, of El Paso, Tex, will begin serving as minister of the Pierceton Presbyterian Church on August 1.

Warsaw Presbyterian parsonage lawn has a beautiful floral display of over a hundred varieties and colors of tulips in graceful beds. The magnificent carpet of green (lawn) enhances the beauty. In the center of the grounds is a pool with a school of goldfish. Dr. and Mrs. A.W. Raabe are the artists.
Starting June 6, children ages three to six will be instructed in six weeks' study in the annual kindergarten school supervised by Mrs. Robert (Mary) Haymaker, teacher in the city schools. Classes are held at East Ward school house.
