    Seventeen-year-old Jonathan Manns of Warsaw recently reeled in a catch from the Pacific Ocean near Homer, Ala. The 6-foot, 1-inch, 168-pound halibut earns Manns a spot in a contest for which he is currently in the lead. The contest runs through the end of July and the prize is $1,000.

    Sharon Boggs and Amy R. Jurss, both members of the Warsaw chapter of Future Farmers, recently attended the FFA Washington Conference Program at the nation's capitol.

Jurss, 17, is the daughter of Kenneth and Mary Jurss, and Boggs, 16, is the daughter of Dale and Kathy Boggs, both of Warsaw.

    Doyle E. Bowers, son of Mr. and Mrs. George A. Bowers, of South Whitley, recently was promoted to specialist third class in Germany, where he is assigned to headquarters battery of the 287th field artillery battalion.

July 26 1932

    Six thousand bass minnows were placed in Winona and Pike lakes by Mr. Spoonmore, who is in charge of the Wawasee state fish hatchery. The lakes of this county have been repeatedly stocked with fish each year for many years through request of the Izaak Walton League and friends who are interested in the conservation of the natural resources of our county.
