10 Years Ago Pike Lake Paddler – Billy Hudson, 63, of Warsaw, was seen practicing with his kayak along the shoreline of Pike Lake. Hudson has been kayaking since 1970 and competes in races, including the upcoming nationals in New Hampshire. 25 Years Ago Rozella 18-Holers - Rose Harroff, Val Gordon and Margaret Like tied for first place recently in Rozella Ford Golf Course women’s 18-hole A Flight play. Dorothy Snider, Paulene Becher and Sue Heuer were in a three-way deadlock for B Flight honors, while Imy White finished first, Julie Evans second and Nila Mathews third in C Flight. 50 Years Ago Bubbles Hargrave, recently voted into Baseball’s Hall of Fame, was once a Warsaw Maroon player. Bubbles played baseball for Warsaw during the 1910-12 period. He caught for the old Maroons, who were terrors in the early days of baseball. Hargrave went to the Major League Cincinnati club, catching for the Reds from 1921 to 1938. His lifetime batting average in the majors was a very good .314. 75 Years Ago Mr. and Mrs. Owen Truman, of Warsaw, and Mr. and Mrs. Ned Tarman, of New Paris, will leave Saturday night for New Orleans where they will visit with the latter’s brother-in-law and sister, Dr. and Mrs. John Jolly. Mrs. Jolly was formerly Miss Margaret Clark of Warsaw.
