10 Years Ago Saturday evening, Shanna Krull and Phillip Camden were crowned 2002 4-H Queen and King at Lakeview Middle School. The royalty are chosen on a points system for participation in various 4-H programs, leadership and community activities. Gretchen Imhoff was named princess and Brent Lamb was named prince. The “royalty” will assist judges, 4-H leaders and members throughout the week. 25 Years Ago Receiving awards for participation in Warsaw Community High School girls track for the spring season were: Andrea Halpin, most valuable; Maggie Edwards, outstanding field events; Angie Johnson, most Improved and outstanding freshman; Krista Hanft, coaches’ award; Teresa Smith outstanding sprinter; and Beth Irvine, outstanding distance. 50 Years Ago Philip K. Zimmerman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Zimmerman, Warsaw, attended a two-day freshman orientation program at Ball State Teachers College, Muncie, last week and enrolled for the fall term. He plans to major in business administration. A 1962 graduate of Warsaw High School, Phil was on the baseball, basketball, football and tennis team and a member of the band. 75 Years Ago A meeting of the Chippewa campfire was held recently with Doris and Dorothy Jackson at their home, in Winona Lake. Mrs. William A. Sunday spoke to the group on “The First Law of the Campfire - Seek Beauty,” and Rev. Walter Jackson of Nebraska City, Nebr., brother of R.O. Jackson of Winona Lake, enroute to the national jamboree in Washington, D.C., spoke concerning his work. Refreshments were served at the Leiter Drug Store in Warsaw.
