Stephanie Wilson was named the 46th Fair Queen Scholarship Pageant winner. Wilson, 18, is the daughter of Tim and Sharon Wilson, Warsaw. She will reign over the 2001 Kosciusko County 4-H and Community Fair and participate at the Indiana State Fair Queen Pageant in August. The queen's court includes: Missy Gephart, third runner-up; Annette Lamb, first runner-up; and Ashley Woodward, second runner-up.

More than 100 employees from various businesses throughout Kosciusko County participated in the First Kosciusko County Challenge Cup. This event was designed to encourage camaraderie not only between employees in various businesses but also among the companies. There were six events in all, with ribbons given out to the winners of each of these. Donnelley's team No. 2 was the overall winner. The squad was presented with a traveling trophy. Team members were: Sharon Davis, Jenny Harting, Matt Martin, Jerry Jungels Vern Fredericks, Bill Cook and Shawn Stiger. Also, Frank Widaman, Frank Suchecki, Lois Tucker and Ed Huffer.

Dave Perkins, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd V. Perkins, Warsaw, has been accepted for admission to Shimer College, Mount Carroll, Ill. He'll begin a series of placement tests Sept. 21 to determine the courses he'll be taking.
Miss Sydney Silveus, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dick Silveus, Warsaw, has returned from Merritt Island, Fla., where she visited her aunt, Mrs. Earl Young, for a month. Mrs. Young, the former Ginevra Sims, came back with Sydney and will be visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Grover Sims, Winona Lake.

No action has as yet been taken by the city administration on the purchase of the Mayfair factory site on North Detroit Street and the shores of Center Lake for park ground. The Lake City Bank asks $3,500 for the 200 feet frontage, but Mayor C.C. DuBois and the city officials think this sum is too high. The tract is just  north of Levin junk yard, and the Bixler Park bought several years ago.
