Circus Galaxy of the Stars will appear July 24 at Edgewood Middle School, featuring Gina and her uncaged leopards, Miss Stephanie on the trapeze, clowns and other acts. 50 Years Ago By late fall, librarian James Sloan opens the doors of the remodeled and enlarged Warsaw Public Library. Right now, the basement of the new addition is in use, but the upper floor is still closed. Entrance is on the west side. The 49,212 books and 150 periodicals dating back 10 years, will be housed in a structure more than two times the size of the old library. Book supply has continued to swell since construction of the original library began on two lots on the corner of Detroit and Center streets by Ezra Frantz in July, 1916 and completed April, 1917. Librarian Miriam Netter, who now resides at 1915 East Center Street, supervised the transfer of 4,095 books from the basement library at the old Center Ward School (corner of Market and Detroit). 75 Years Ago Work on gravel roads in Kosciusko County scheduled for black-topping this summer is being held up because of the incessant rainy weather the past few weeks, according to S.R. Laughlin, supervisor. Sealing the 65 miles of hard-surface roads is being carried out; a top-coat of Kentucky kyrock asphalt is laid over the base.
