The Warsaw Community Library board received two design options from InterDesign Group architects Joel Blum and Fred Brames. The first option calls for renovation of the 1917-era facility, which was last remodeled in 1966, and would add 21,000 square feet to the present 14,000-foot facility. The addition would extend into the present parking lot, and would require demolition of the existing 1924-era Masonic Building on High Street and the Detroit Street rental house for the construction of a new parking lot. The second option calls for construction of a 31,000-square foot facility at a new location. The board will decide which option it will pursue by Sept. 10. Construction of the building is slated to start in June 1991, with opening to the public by December 1992. Dennis Lawson, Wabash Valley Library Network coordinator, will serve as a liaison between the library and the architects.

The Hastings Store, five miles southwest of Milford, will be razed due to its deteriorating condition by present owner Harold Fox. The building has stood in its present location for more than 70 years, serving the Hastings community as a general store, post office and meeting place. Sam Estep sold everything from yard goods to farming equipment in the general store; outgoing mail would be hauled each day by horseback to Milford. Matt and James Biller and Noah Tusing were in charge of hauling mail between the two communities. The brick Hastings School still stands.
