General projects judging began this morning, July 13, at the Kosciusko 4-H and Community Fair. Aubrey Gilbert, Atwood, listens as judge Katy Rust, from Kouts, evaluates her lamp in the miscellaneous crafts division. She was awarded a blue ribbon. This is Aubrey’s eighth year in 4-H.
Retiring teachers from the Wawasee School Corporation: North Webster-Lynee Beer, Miriam Eberly, Susie Heath, Marge Kryder; Milford-Richard Bender, Phyllis Matz; Syracuse-Paula Markley, Principal Sue Rathke; Wawasee High School-Ruthann Angle, Beth Hursh, Karl Keiper. Together, they have a total of 347 years in education, with 292 of those at Wawasee.

 “Fiddler on the Roof” comes to the Wagon Wheel Theatre beginning tonight, July 11 and running through July 29. Tom Rowland directs the musical and heads the cast as Tevye. Ann Whitney plays his acidulous wife, Golde. Jennifer Neuland portrays Yente, the matchmaker for his three daughters, played by Kyle Lupp, Libby Tomlinson and Becca Kaufman. Gene Grillo, Tod Alden, Michael Cheffo and Christopher Guy are the four swains of the girls.
“A New Beginning” gospel quartet will perform two concerts Sunday at Beaver Dam. Members are Rose Ellen Boise, Terrie Gates, Steve Jordan, Jerry Cornetet and John Kirkpatrick. The group performs Saturday at the Prairie Street Mennonite Church, Elkhart.

Chosen to play for the Little League All-Star game July 5: Denny Dock, Tigers; Tom Olson, Sox; Steve Bair, Rick Heckaman, Dick Pyle, Mike Simpson, Senators; Tom Wiltrout, Pat Bennett, Athletics; Dave Love, Tim Simmison, Yankees.
Winners in the county 4-H Judging Contest June 29: Mary Lou Horn, Beaver Dam, clothing; Barbara Boggs, Pierceton, clothing; Nancy Camden, Warsaw, electric. They advance to the district judging contest at Lincoln School July 14. Blue ribbons-Patty and Kathy Meinert, Tammy Staley, all of Warsaw; Red ribbons-Waneta Deaton, Susan and David Conley, all of Claypool; Sara Keifer, Warsaw; Janet Goshert, Joyce Horn, Faith Goshert, all of Beaver Dam. Kay Goshert, Beaver Dam, received a white ribbon.

Kosciusko County dance pupils to appear in the revue of the Violet Reinwald Institute at the Shrine Theatre in Fort Wayne May 28: Mary Jane and Sonya McKown, Warsaw; Frank Drudge and Barbara Jean Ferverda, Silver Lake. Mary Jane and Barbara are among the older pupils, dancing to solo numbers, “The St. Louis Blues” and “Wabash Blues” respectively.
