    The Dixie, Indiana's Oldest sternwheel paddleboat, celebrates her 70th anniversary this summer on Webster Lake. Dixie was launched in 1929 and she continues the tradition of excursion boats on Webster Lake.

Back in the early days, The Dixie also had a small grocery store and small blacksmith shop on board to serve customers.

July 16 1984

    Becky White, Warsaw, was the winner of a gas-powered miniature replica of the Indy 500 Fiero Pace Car in a Kroger/Pepsi Cola promotion. Warsaw Pepsi branch manager was Art Brown and the Kroger representative was Bill Adridge.

July 16 1959

    Miss Rita Price, 1958 Purdue talent review winner, and Kent Hennon, a Manchester college music major, will open a new live song series on WRSW and WRSW FM. The two talented young people will be heard each Saturday direct from the studios under the auspices of Sound Craft Studios of Warsaw. Rita and Kent are both from Bourbon. Rita, 17, is a senior at Bourbon High School.


75 Years Ago

July 16 1934

    The Kappa Alpha Phi reports the following on the city milk fund for deserving children. Boxing matches and other sources netted $420.88. Milk was issued to children for 23 weeks. Milk was donated for three weeks by the Crystal and Rife dairies. The fraternity provided funds for milk for 20 weeks. The largest number of children receiving milk at any one time totaled 184.
