 Graduates of Jack & Jill Preschool, Mentone: Ryan Waddle, Camden Tucker, Lexi Olivarez, Jameson Baker, Drake Manwaring, Kayla Merley, Travis Shull, Brittany Wilhite, Asia O'Connor, McKenzie Murphy, Reannon Hopkins, Tristyn Lewis, Caleigh Zolman, Olivia Trippiedi, Bryce Webster, Juan Carlos Murillo, Sabrina Witham, Ciera Baker, Sydney Alford, Eric Wright, Lathen Spencer, Grace Grosch, Hope Prater, Alex Isaacson, Jade Keininger and Todd Cornett II. Monica Clennon, Mentone, is a 21-year Navy veteran and was awarded the Military Outstanding Voluntary Service Medal. She joined the Girl Scouts in 1998 and has helped with her daughter's troop ever since.

Mindy Phillips and Heidi Bratten, both Mentone Junior High School students, have been named to the United States Achievement Academy for their academic performance, leadership qualities, citizenship skills, responsibility and dependability.
Kathryn Reiff will receive World of Poetry's Golden Poet Award for her poem "The Berlin Wall" at the Las Vegas Hilton Aug. 27. This is the sixth time she has won this award.
Catherine S. Ott, Warsaw, has become an independent sales director for Mary Kay Cosmetics. She joined the company in August, 1987 as a beauty consultant. Her sales and recruiting accomplishments led to her promotion.

Charles Cleveland, county highway engineer, began his new duties as county highway supervisor July 1, following the resignation of Ray Nine. Nine accepted a position as salesman for the Texas Refining Co., Fort Worth, Texas, selling road maintenance products. He will retain his home in North Webster.

Fred Abbott's car damaged a flower bed in front of the Collins' property. He reported that a tire going suddenly flat caused his car to jump the curb at the intersection of Fort Wayne Avenue and Fort Wayne Street.
As swell a string of catfish you've ever seen was pulled from the Tippecanoe River at the intersection of Walnut Creek last night by Leslie Rose. At one point, he pulled in two at one time. Must have been at least 50 "cats" on the stringer.
