  Groundbreaking for the Kosciusko Community Hospital Cancer Care Center is planned for July 31. The facility will be an 11,000-square-foot structure on Provident Drive between MedStat and the KCH Health and Wellness Center. The facility has been under development for five years and is the fourth construction project at the hospital for Irmacher Construction. Completion is slated for June 2003.

   This American recipe for Mom’s Coffee Cake was submitted by Francine Busch, Warsaw for the Spotlight Recipe Contest.
      Ingredients: 1 pkg. Duncan Hine Deluxe II cake mix (yellow); 1 can Thank You vanilla pudding; 2 beaten eggs. Topping: 1/2 cup sugar; 1/2 cup chopped walnuts; 1 pkg. (6 ox.) butterscotch morsels. Combine cake mix, pudding and eggs. Pour into a 9x13 greased and floured pan. Combine sugar, walnuts morsels and pat down onto cake mixture. Bake 350 degrees for 35 minutes.

    Katrena Bundy and Kenneth Metzger of North Manchester are attending a two-week journalism institute at Indiana University. The two are co-editors of the Manchester High school newspaper, The Scroll.
     Andrew Butterbaugh and John Powell of North Manchester are among the 140 boys enrolled in junior basketball camp this week at Taylor University, Upland.

     Article published on front page July 12, 1937. “To keep cool--keep cool. That is, don’t get excited and you won’t get so hot. It’s only horse sense, says Dr. Irving S. Cutter, and if you’re old enough to have driven a horse, you should know it yourself. A nervous horse (skittish to those who know about horses) perspires just from nervousness even in mild weather. Well, nervous human beings are just the same way. If you worry, you’re going to suffer from the heat”
