This recipe for Blueberry Betty was published in the Women’s Exchange column.
Rinse 4 cups of fresh cultivated blueberries and let them drain well in a colander. Toss 3 tbsp. of melted butter with 2 cups of bread crumbs. Combine 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1 tsp. cinnamon, and 1 tbsp. of grated lemon rind.
Sprinkle 1/2 of the crumbs in the bottom of a well-buttered 1-1/2 qt. baking dish. Cover with half the drained blueberries and sprinkle with half the sugar mixture. Repeat, ending with a layer of crumbs. Combine 2 tablespoons of lemon juice with 1/4 cup of hot water and spoon evenly over top. Bake at 375 degrees for 30 minutes. Serve with plain cream or whipped cream or ice cream. Recipe makes 6 servings.

The new section of state highway No. 13 connecting North Webster with the Lincoln Highway was opened to traffic a few days ago, making it now unnecessary for motorists to use a detour which has been in use the past year. The new route has cut out certain dangerous curves and is much shorter than the old road. The new route is along picturesque sections of the county.
