Grace College track and field coach Kirk Heng and six athletes recently spent eight days in Vientiane, Laos. Among those joining Heng were Grace athletes Dave Robertson (Warsaw), Matt Krallman (Warsaw), and Jerid Stoffel (Syracuse). They were guests of the Laos Sports Federation and Olympic Committee. During their time in the country, the team conducted training sessions for the Laos national track and field team, promoted paralympic participation by visiting a facility for physically disabled teenagers and spent time with students to promote relations between the United States and Laos.

One of the highest honors bestowed on a poet, the Silver Poet Award 1986, will be presented to Estalena Hamilton Gayheart of Warsaw at a ceremony in Orlando, Fla., on Aug. 30. World of Poetry's Board of Directors voted to honor Gayheart for her poem "Glenda" at the second annual poetry convention. Gayheart will share her poetry works with more than 2,000 other poets. She is also eligible to be named World Of Poetry Laureate for 1986 and has a chance of being inducted into the World of Poetry Hall of Fame.

Mrs. Mamie Braddock, of the Warsaw High School faculty, will participate in a conference of 200 English teachers at Indiana University, Bloomington, July 13-14. There will be group discussions on developmental reading, remedial reading, literature, writing, structural linguistics and grammar.

One of the most complete and elaborate entertainment units ever developed will be made available to the people of this county on July 14, John L. Barton, Warsaw vocational agriculture teacher announced today. The show consists of two and a half hours of dramatized all-talking version of the famous novel, "Under the 4-H Flag." The program will include, in addition to the feature picture, a 4-H news reel, an educational short called "Hidden Values" and a cartoon comedy.
