The 1997 Cutie King and Queen were crowned at the county fair. Sterling Sims, 3, was chosen king, and Hayley Lauren Smith, 3, was the queen. Sterling is the son of Tommy and Kathie Sims, Leesburg, and Haley is the daughter of Todd and Amy Smith, Warsaw.
The friends of Betty Moltz surprised her this week when she retired from Little Crow Foods. They picked her up on her last day of work, June 30, with a hearse. Roma Maish, Jody Mosbaugh and Marilyn Bueckman presented her with a bouquet of flowers.
Lieutenant Colonel William K. Pfingst, Syracuse, has been appointed commander of the 361-th navigator training squadron at Harlingen AFB in Texas.
The first 1932 wheat which was brought to Warsaw was by Charles Tinkey, a farmer residing west of the city. The wheat tested 58 pounds to the bushel when received at the Warsaw Grain and Milling Co. The milling company is paying 35 cents a bushel for good hard wheat. Unofficial estimates are that wheat is averaging from 35 to 40 bushels an acre in Kosciusko County, depending upon the condition of the ground.
