The Vikings used a four-run seventh inning to erase a 5-2 deficit and to claim the title, the first for Coach Duane Burkhart. The newest craze in Warsaw got its start Monday night as beach volleyball leagues began, organized by Scott Woods. Games will be played in a lot just west of Neck of the Woods Monday through Thursday, with a special feature on Saturday beginning June 9. Pastors Paul Tinkel, Arden Reed and Dick Anderson have been re-united after 30 years. Each was active in the Warsaw Ministerial Association and became friends. Anderson was the first chaplain of the Warsaw Police Department, assisted by Tinkel and Reed. After church transfers, all three have now returned to Kosciusko County. 50 Years Ago Mrs. Steven Weidman, 515 West Eagle St., was given a special peck on the cheek by her son, Barton, that would make any mother happy on her day, May 9. Mrs. Elmer Foster, West Pike Street, knows the dandelion bouquet offered by her son, J.R., is as attractive as a dozen roses. Soon to be 3 years of age, Scott Lee LaRue, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gale LaRue, Pierceton, landed four bass and four bluegills while fishing this week. Roy Hatten, Warsaw, landed a 5-pound plus largemouth bass on Winona Lake by using a spinning rod and six pound test line. Margie Merkle, Claypool, was ninth in the regional spelling bee in Fort Wayne. 75 Years Ago A new building, which will house an additional core room for the Warsaw Foundry Co., is now being completed just south of the company’s main plant on North Detroit Street. The building, of cement block and wood construction, is 60x100 feet and will provide three spacious departments to increase the foundry’s manufacturing facilities. Considerable equipment will be placed in the new building. Hobart Creighton, of near Warsaw, will be interviewed over radio station WLS in Chicago at 6:45 p.m. May 3 by David Thompson, associate editor of the Prairie Farmer. Creighton will answer questions on poultry problems. Tippecanoe Township schools led all other townships in attendance during the month of April, said Marion Longfellow, county attendance officer.
