Triton High School named Daniel Stichter, son of Steve and Cindy Stichter, Etna Green, valedictorian, and Anna Smith, daughter of Byron and Mary Eloise Smith, Bourbon, salutatorian. Both received engraved clocks from the administration.
Warsaw Community High School freshman Kevin Pownall was the winner of a black 1996 Sunfire GT with a sunroof, courtesy of The Car Company, for perfect attendance during the school year. Lead salesman Sherlock Harrison Jr. and finance manager Micah Dilley handed him the keys. Freshman Brittony Rogers and senior Rebekah Reichard were winners of laptop computers with printers donated by Biomet. Their names were drawn randomly from all students with an “A” grade point average.

Tamra Payne, daughter of Brian and Sue Payne, Warsaw, won the Mental Attitude award at the state tennis finals June 2. She graduated third in her class and put together a 25-1 record this season. She played every match in her career at No. 1 singles and had a four-year record of 105-11, the best in school history, according to  Coach Joe Beeson. Tamra will continue her career at Bradley University. She is the second Lady Tiger to win this award in her sport; Judi Warren won the award in basketball in 1976.
Tippecanoe Valley senior Amy Petersen, daughter of Barry and Judy Petersen, Mentone, has been selected for the All Star basketball team to go to China July 8. She is the team’s leading scorer, with a 16.0 average.
YMCA lifeguard team: Ada Blount, Pat Burkey, Tony and Tom Doyle.

Junior High track champs for the second straight year are the Leesburg Blazers: Craig Alvis, Bruce Smith, Mark Reents, Ted Bast, Larry Kammerer, Danny and Dennis Archer, Dennis Dausaman, Steve Watkins, Dave Matthews, Phil Landis, David Loher, Ross Deatsman, Gary Gross and Coach Jack Myers.
Mother Goose and her goose, Sucie, entertained children at St. Anne’s Episcopal Church. Among them were Clay Sanders, Patrick McGovern, Cindy and Mark Bullock, Leonard Jr., Joanna, and Judy Brooks, and Brian and Bradley Bibler.
Mrs. Bruce Mitterling, Troop Six Cadette leader, and Nancy DeGood were part of the many Girl Scouts in Kosciusko County who were selling cookies Saturday. Their goal is 900 cases. Cookie sales chairman is Mrs. William Wadsworth.

C.B. Brady, of one mile east of Winona Lake, says that while he was looking over his mother’s diary, he ran across a passage saying that on May 9, 1923, between four and five inches of snow covered this locality, temperature around 2 degrees and high gale.
A second story storm window in John W. Cook’s East Center Street home blew down to the ground during high wind, not even so much as scratching the frame or breaking any glass.
Forrest Eherenman, Warsaw’s red-headed crooning saxophone player, was initiated into the Delta Chi fraternity at Indiana University. He is the son of the Harry Eherenman’s, East Main Street.
