Goshert was born Aug. 24, 1844. He came to Kosciusko County when one year old and has resided on the same place ever since. He relates that the last deer killing in the county took place just a short distance from his home. Egolf and his son Devoe keep busy collecting the sap from 325 trees which has to be done twice a day. The water is hauled to the camp and dumped into a cistern from which it is pumped into the evaporator. Egolf has so far made more than 100 gallons of the golden liquid.
