10 Years Ago Three men who have been friends for 50 years recently reunited at the Big Band Gospel concert in Winona Lake. Ralph Carmichael, the band director who rearranged old classic hymns to the sounds of the Big Band era, met with his friends Bruce Howe and Ken Anderson. Erika Jansen and her friend, Anna Haldewang, play with kittens at the Animal Welfare League of Kosciusko County. For her 10th birthday, Erika asked that her birthday presents be donations collected for the animal shelter. This is the third year Erika has donated money and her time to the Animal Welfare League. 25 Years Ago Mr. & Mrs. Kenneth L. DePoy, 917 S. Union St., Warsaw, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary May 8. An open house will be hosted by their children from 2-5 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 179 S. Indiana St., Warsaw. Kenneth DePoy and the former Georgia Jackson were married in the parsonage of the Methodist Church of Columbia City by Rev. G. F. Hubbart on May 8, 1938. They are the parents of Linda, Rebecca, Lorraine and Christine. They are grandparents of eight grandchildren. DePoy is retired after many years as a salesman. Adults, $0.75, children, $0.25 75 Years Ago The Warsaw-Winona Federation of clubs is sponsoring an art exhibit of painting by Leo Ruckle, an instructor at Northwestern University, which will be displayed all next week at the Hotel Hays. The program Monday evening is in charge of Mrs. Chester Bolinger, who will present Mr. Ruckle's daughter, who will speak on "The Impressions of an Artist's Daughter." Because of the limited capacity of the room, only Federation members are invited to be present at this program. The paintings will remain hanging all week, however, and the public is cordially invited to enjoy the display. A program of music will be presented from 2 to 3 p.m. and from 7 to 8 p.m. each day.
