    In his 14th year and 15th season, Jerry Landrum, 52, continues to be successful as a BMX racer.

Landrum, Winona Lake, achieved a No. 3 finish in BMX national competition this year. He raced for one year in the American Bicycle Association to achieve the honor.

    Steve Mort, of Pierceton, a Whitko High School product, received the Huntington College basketball most valuable player award from the school's dean of students, Chantler Thompson, at a recent awards banquet.

June 4 1959

    John Blackport, of Syracuse, recently speared two large carp in Lake Wawasee. He speared the fish near the Harkless Boat Livery on the north side of the lake. One weighed 30 pounds, the other 25 pounds.

June 4 1934

    The selection of the 10 honor pupils, of this year's graduating class of Warsaw High School, as members of the Tri Alpha, has been made by the school instructors. Their choice was based on scholarship ability, attitude and participation in school activities.

The 1934 Tri Alpha members are: Elizabeth Hines, Winifred Davis, Sally Eschbach, Devoe Leedy, George Hatfield, Milo Clase, Mildred Sloane, Barbara Dickey, Bernice Hose and Thomas LeHew.
