10 Years Ago Bigger, better and free. Those three words are how Pro-Life Music Fest event organizer Marti Clupper described the fourth annual event set for July 6 at the City-County athletic Complex, Warsaw. Featuring 11 Christian bands from across the country and beyond, the music festival runs from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Last year approximately 2,000 people attended. 25 Years Ago Great American Race officials in Dallas announced that the 1912 American LaFrance fire engine racing team from Warsaw would again participate in this year’s annual event. The Great Race features more than 100 classic and antique cars built prior to 1937, which will compete in a timed, distance rally across the country from Disneyland in Anaheim, Calif., to Disney World in Orlando, Fla. The Warsaw entry is driven by Dr. Robert Fuson and George Kelchner. Also participating is Times-Union’s Laura Hygema. 50 Years Ago Alice Helton, Martha Tschetter and Nancy Coplen are the Warsaw American Legion Auxiliary’s delegates to Girls’ State which opens Sunday at Indiana University, Bloomington. Avis Rowland, of Claypool, Kathleen Morphew, of Winona Lake, and Marsha Thompson are alternate delegates. Mrs. Frank Ohmart is the local Girls’ State chairman. 75 Years Ago Misses Carolyn and Rosalyn Wones are leaving Tuesday for New York. Wednesday noon they will sail on the S.S. Normandie for South Hampton. They will visit England, Holland, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland and France, returning home about the middle of August.
