 Burket Achievers - Students of the Year, Most Improved student and Top Achiever trophy awards were presented during the Burket Elementary awards program recently. Those named were: Marissa McSherry, Danielle Adams, Taylor Cole, Courtney Etchison, Mason Teel, Ryan Cook, McKale Mahaska, Allie Elliott, Tori Quillen, Jessica Spry, Hanna Engle, Andrew Wagoner, Jordan May, Megan Scherzer, Brooke Roberts, Chelsea Ridenour, Daniel Kerkhoff and Christina Wagoner.

 First he was known in Warsaw and throughout the area, then statewide when he was selected to the Indiana All-Star team. Now, thanks to his 24 points and 12 rebounds in last weekend’s game against the Kentucky stars, Warsaw’s Rick Fox is becoming a nationwide name. An article about him appeared in a recent USA Today, explaining his background in the Bahamas and his fast progression on the basketball court.

 Alpha Beta chapter of Beta Sigma Phi sorority will honor Miss Judy Fisher, queen of the 1962 Kosciusko County Fair, and 15 aspirants for her crown this Thursday evening at a banquet in the Wagon Wheel restaurant. Later in the evening the girls will be guests of Major and Mrs. Herbert Petrie at a performance of  “The Music Man” in the Wagon Wheel Playhouse.

 Leesburg farmer George Danner has a cow that in 1935 gave birth to triplet calves, in 1936 produced a calf and another in 1937, making a total of five. The triplet calves meanwhile have produced three more calves, the herd founded by this one mother included three males. This all happened in two years, two months and five days. Who can beat this record?
