2004 Queen of Lakes Pageant contestants: Megan Davis, Tara Eberhart, Tascha Herron, Kim Hoover, Annette Lamb, Mary Heintzelman, Megan Medlock, Katie Miller, Gretchen Pinnick, Megan Schrader, Myra Searfoss, Allison Scherer, Lisa Stachowiak, Christy Wilson and Jennifer Woolums. The 59th annual pageant will be held in the new North Webster Community Center.
   Candidates for royalty at the Kosciusko County 4-H and Community Fair: Eric Camden, Erin Kantz, Hayley Wertenberger, Sarah Banghart, Justin Schroeder, Kara Anderson, Heidi Shock, Bradley Clayton, Laura Lash, Jeremy Schroeder and Scot Goon. Participants must be in at least their eighth year of 4-H.

Contestants vying for the title of Miss Silver Lake 1989 are Jaylene Crace, Jennifer Jenkins, Kresta Stanley, Gina Homan, Lori Hohman, Stacie Miller, Becki Homan and Tamara Roller. 1988 queen was Debbie Ransbottom.
   Lene Nielsen, 16, arrived in the United States in August from Almind, Denmark, just in time to start school at Triton. She has been staying with the Richard Walter family in Etna Green and has enjoyed her stay in America. She begins her long trip home July 3.
   American Legion Auxiliary Unit 425, Mentone, selects local high school girls each year to attend Girls' State. This year they are Rickell Doud, Barb Burge, Teresa King and Dana Feldman. This year Girls' State takes place in Terre Haute from June 18-25.

Warsaw wins track meet at Huntington. Perry Webb, by two-tenths of a second, beat the time established by one of Warsaw's greatest sprinters in the 220-yard dash, Dick Dobbins in 1947. The team of Webb, Errol White, Butch Johnston and Tom Sanders ran the 880 relay in 1:34.75, eclipsing the record of 1:35 flat set by Whitey Bell, John Bowser, J. Alan Morgan and Eddie Johnston (Butch's brother) in 1952.
   Nancy Rickel, Liz Koher, Jane Aylor and Michaele Hodges departed Wednesday afternoon with the Warsaw High School concert band on a tour of Michigan and Canada. There are 109 persons on the tour, including chaperones. The band arrived in Detroit last night and a birthday party was held for one of the members, Fred Helfrich, before retiring to the Henrose Hotel. The musicians return to Warsaw Sunday night.

Harold Lowrie of J.E. Bursley Co., wholesale grocers of Ft. Wayne, was in Warsaw Tuesday completing rental of George Oram's Lake Street garage building. The new grocery store (super-serve-yourself) plans to open May 1. Fred McKown has been using the building, located across Lake Street on west side of court house, as a used car market. New proprietor Lowrie was a former auditor for the Kroger Company in this territory. Brothers Arthur C. and Horace B. Lowery will move their families to Warsaw, Arthur at 209 West Market Street.
   Robert Chambers, senior at Warsaw High School and one of Coach Fisher's "white hopes" for the coming track meet, was injured in chemistry class when the top came off a chemical bottle solution and sprayed him with the contents.
