    POTPOURRI - Area resident Sheryl Wallace has never run a marathon before, but she's putting her best foot forward in an effort to raise money for the fight against leukemia. She'll compete in a "walk-run" in Dublin, Ireland, Oct. 26.

June 23 1983

    George Dudinsky, Les Kreider, Ken Wright and Dick Thomas won the blind net foursome tournament at Tippecanoe Lake Country Club. Their team score was 275, two shots better than the runnerup quartet of Ron Brass, John Foreman, Tim Sutton and Denny Hively.

June 23 1958

    Jerry Firestone, of Syracuse, and Doyle Eiler, Mentone, placed first in their respective divisions at the district 4-H agriculture demonstration contest held recently at Huntertown High School.

Firestone won first place with an electrical demonstration on "Proper Farmstead Wiring." Eiler was first in the poultry division with a demonstration on "Egg Quality."

    Loretta Shanahan entertained members of the Thursday Afternoon Bridge Club at her Winona Lake home. The usual two tables of bridge progressed, with Irma Parker winning first prize and Jean Widaman second.
